Alexander A. Arnold
Alexander Ahab Arnold was an American lawyer and livestock breeder from Galesville, Wisconsin who served as Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly and as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate.Background
Arnold was born in Rhinebeck, New York in 1833. He moved to Wisconsin in 1857, settling in Galesville, Wisconsin. During the American Civil War, he served with the 30th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment of the Union Army. Arnold died in 1915. Arnold was a member of the Assembly in 1871 and 1880, serving as Speaker during his second term. He was a member of the Senate from 1877 to 1878. Arnold became a member of the Republican Party after the outbreak of the Civil War. Prior to that, he had been a Democrat.
