Al Tuer
Allan Tuer is a former professional ice hockey defenceman and current director of pro scouting for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 9th round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft.
Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Tuer played junior hockey with the Regina Pats from 1981 to 1983. He registered 486 penalty minutes in the 1981–82 season.
Tuer played in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota North Stars, and Hartford Whalers, as well as 7 clubs in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League. During the 1992-93 season he was a player/assistant coach for the Cincinnati Cyclones. He is the all-time leader in penalty minutes for the New Haven Nighthawks with 688. Tuer played 10 seasons as a pro, registering 2,464 PIM in 630 games.
The year following his retirement, Tuer was hired as head coach and general manager of the Moose Jaw Warriors. He held this position from 1993 to 1998 before taking an amateur scouting position with the NHL's Central Scouting Service. From 2001-10 he was an amateur scout for the Calgary Flames, and is currently director of pro scouting for the Florida Panthers.
