Ahmed Hamada (racer)


Ahmed Hamada is an Egyptian racecar driver, has been racing since 2004, his most notable achievements include achieving third position overall in the Zipping South East Championship, as well as racing with the same team, ERTMD in the Chevrolet Lumina CSV South East Championship and finishing fourth overall as well as multiple other podium finishes.

Racing career

2001-2004
Ahmed entered racing back in 2001 when he participated in a race done in North Coast, Egypt in the Golden Beach karting track managed by Egyptian Karting Club and finished 8th position overall. Then in 2002 he joined the EKC team with 6 other drivers, and entered the 2002 EgyKart Championship and managed to finish 7th in the Championship. During the 2003 EgyKart Championship he managed to reach 4th position on the high but due to many absences in the championship due to his Mechanical Engineering Studies at the American University in Cairo, he finished off 8th in the Championship.
2005
Ahmed stepped up into the higher category of single-seater racing in 2005 when he entered the Thunerarabia Zip formula Ford Championship aiming at developing the first Middle East racing driver. he achieved 6 podiums and 2 fastest laps and one pole position, finishing off 2nd total in points but 3rd after eliminating the worst three races in the championship.
2006
Ahmed moved on in participating in the 2006 ThunderArabia Middle East Championship, managing to race for only one weekend in which he did not start the first race due to engine failure in an earlier practice session and finishing 8th after starting last on the grid reaching 4th but being hit and going off the track and trying to regain his position. He did not continue the Championship due to lack of financial support.
2007-2008
Ahmed later on stepped into the Saloon Car Category, racing with ERTMD in the Chevrolet Lumina CSV Middle East Championship, Achieving two pole position, 2 fastest laps, and 4 podiums finishes, finishing off 4th overall in the championship.
2012
Ahmed has competed in the 2012 Supercars ME and has finished in 2nd place twice in the SC06 class races supporting the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix. He has also competed in the Radical SR3 Middle East Championship in which he has finished third place twice on the Autodrome Dubai Circuit. Ahmed has also participated in the BMW M training that was with the help of Castrol on the Nurburgring GP Circuit and Nordschleife circuit, having raced the BMW M5 and M3.
2016
Ahmed has also begun testing on race bikes where he received his first on-track training on the brand new BMW S1000RR in Barcelona in the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Engineering career

Ahmed joined the Society of Automotive Engineers in 2003, and in his senior year in 2007, he became Mechanical Engineering Club President, and created a team and started to manufacture the first Formula SAE Race car in Egypt and the Middle East, that would be a model to many FSAE cars to come.
Ahmed also consulted Helwan University team in their team and in developing the basics of competing in the British Institute of Mechanical Engineers IMechE Formula Student Competition.
