Agustina López de Osornio was an Argentine upper-class lady. She belonged to a powerful family from Buenos Aires, owners of the Rincón de López ranch. His son was the famous caudillo porteño Don Juan Manuel de Rosas.Biography
Agustina López de Osornio was born in Buenos Aires, daughter of Clemente López de Osornio and his second wife María Manuela Rubio Díaz Gamiz, belonging to a criollo family of the city.
His father and his brother Andrés Lopez de Osornio died defending his ranch from an Indian attack or malón, occurred in 1783 in Province of Buenos Aires. After the death of her father, she administered his estancia known as Rincón de López, located near Chascomús, on the banks of the Salado River.
In 1790 Agustina López de Osornio was married to León Ortiz de Rozas, a rich military officer and rancher born in Buenos Aires. She was a descendant of illustrious criollo families, including Silverio Casco de Mendoza Ruiz de Ocaña, and his wife Lorenza Machado, granddaughter of Gil González de Moura and Inés Núñez Cabral, fidalgos from Portugal.
