Agene process
The agene process is a former process for bleaching flour with agene. The practice was discontinued in 1949 once it became known that agene caused severe and widespread neurological disorders in humans. The denatured protein in the treated flour is toxic and causes hysteria in dog biscuits made from the flour which led to the discovery of the problem for humans.
