Activity cycle diagram
There are many known modeling paradigms to describe the dynamics of system in process-oriented, event-based and activity-based view points. Among those modeling paradigms, the activity-based modeling is a natural way to represent the activity paradigm of discrete event simulation and our knowledge about a system. In activity-based modeling, the dynamics of system is represented as an ACD which is a network model of the logical and temporal relationships among the activities. An ACD is easily implemented with the activity scanning method of simulation execution. The methodology for constructing an activity cycle diagram consists of the following five steps :
- Specify the model domain.
- List all entities and their key attributes
- For each entity define its individual closed cycle of activity - queue - activity
- Merge the individual activity cycles
- Verify the logic of the diagram and amend as necessary.
