The Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand is New Zealand's national pro-choice advocacy group. It has existed since 1971.History
One of its early members was family planning doctor and pediatrician, Dr Alice Bush. Dr Margaret Sparrow, a Wellington gynecologist, was the president from 1975 to 1980, and again from 1984 until March 2011. ALRANZ supports total decriminalisation of abortion in New Zealand. The organisation is based in Wellington, puts out a quarterly newsletter, and has its own website.
ALRANZ supported Labour Party MP Steve Chadwick's 2010 bill to decriminalise abortion up to 24 weeks.
