1984–85 Iraqi National League

The 1984–85 Iraqi National League was the 11th season of the competition since its foundation in 1974. For the first time in Iraqi football history, three points were awarded for a win.
The tournament was abandoned after 18 rounds, with several postponed games from previous rounds, and the league was declared null and void. The reason for the abandonment was because the league schedule was conflicting with the national team's crucial World Cup qualifiers, which the fans and the Iraq Football Association considered to be the priority. At the time of abandonment, Al-Talaba's Hussein Saeed was leading the goalscoring charts with 14 goals.
Al-Rasheed had lost one match, drawn three matches and won all their other matches before the league was voided, after which they set up a tournament called the Al-Rasheed Cup containing all of the Premier League teams as well as four lower division teams. Al-Rasheed won that tournament by beating Al-Zawraa 3–0 in the final.
