1902 Copa de la Coronación
The 1902 Copa de la Coronación, officially Concurso Madrid de Foot-ball Association was a football competition in honour of the coronation of Alfonso XIII of Spain. It was an unofficial competition: the Royal Spanish Football Federation do not recognize it as the first season of the Copa del Rey, which began the following year.
The competition started on 13 May 1902, and concluded on 16 May 1902, with the Final, held at the Hipódromo in Madrid, in which Bizcaya lifted the trophy. Madrid FC lifted the runner-up trophy after beating Club Español de Foot-Ball by 3-2.
The competition was thought up after Juan de Astorquia and Carlos Padrós, later president of Madrid FC, suggested a football competition to celebrate the coronation of Alfonso XIII. Four other teams joined Madrid for the first competition: FC Barcelona, Club Español de Foot-Ball, Bizcaya and New Foot-Ball Club. The competition featured the first recorded and unofficial game between Barcelona and Madrid, with the former emerging 3–1 winners. Bizcaya eventually beat Barcelona in the final, with captain Juan de Astorquia, who had scored in every round, collecting the trophy.

- Bizcaya did not participate because they had nothing to console, being winners of the Copa de la Coronación.
- FC Barcelona declined to participate because their players had to return to their occupations.
- New Foot-Ball Club declined to participate due to the very poor level shown in the Copa de la Coronación.
